Genting Hong Kong Sponsers Youth Outreach Crisis Centre For Boys Renovations

Hong Kong, 27 November, 2013 – Genting Hong Kong has made a HKD300,000 donation to Youth Outreach to sponsor the renovation project for its Crisis Centre for Boys.
To celebrate the completion of the project and to thank the generosity of Genting Hong Kong, Youth Outreach hosted a reopening ceremony yesterday (26 November) at Youth Outreach Jockey Club Building in Sai Wan Ho. The reopening was officiated by Mr Blondel So, Chief Operating Officer, Genting Hong Kong, Ms Vivian Sim, Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications & PR, Genting Hong Kong, Mr Andrew Chan, Publicity Committee Member, Youth Outreach and Ms Florence Lin, Assistant Executive Director, Crisis Services, Youth Outreach. Youngsters currently residing at the centre were invited to the event to share their life stories and learning experience with the guests.
Mr Blondel So, Chief Operating Officer, Genting Hong Kong, said, “The Year 2013 is a special year for us. It coincides with our 20th anniversary. We’re honoured to be able to sponsor Outreach to refurbish its Crisis Centre for Boys. A better equipped centre with new facilities like computers and sofas can provide better accommodation for the youth. Genting Hong Kong operates sea and land-based hospitality business. Many of our employees are young people from around the world. We’ve chosen to partner with Outreach because we appreciate the very meaningful work they’re doing for these youngsters. We hope to help more young people in need to rebuild their lives and prepare them for the challenges they may face in the future.”
Youth Outreach was founded in 1991 to provide crisis intervention services to marginal adolescents inHong Kong, including an all-night outreaching service with emergency accommodation and counseling to teenagers who have either run away from home or are in danger of doing so. It has been 10 years since the Crisis Centre for Boys relocated from Shatin to Sai Wan Ho, and more than 3,000 cases have been served. Due to the high frequency of use, many facilities suffered tear and wear, such as peeled and cracked paint, moldy flooring as well as poor plumbing. Youth Outreach is thankful for the generous donation made by Genting Hong Kong, so it can serve as a more comfortable temporary home to street wandering boys.
As a Caring Company, Genting Hong Kong continues to give back to society through cooperating with different charitable organizations globally.
Genting Hong Kong extends a helping hand to street wandering boys through a HKD300,000 donation and sponsorships to Youth Outreach. Star Cruises to bring more tourists to Vietnam

SuperStar Virgo’s main port will be changed from Singapore to Hong Kong in six months between April and October, 2014 to take tourists to Taiwan, China’s Hainan and Vietnam’s Halong Bay. This 75,000-ton-plus cruise ship has 13 decks and 935 cabins.
Star Cruises is promoting the ship’s journeys such as the four-day journey from Hong Kong to Taiwan and the one departing from Sanya (Hainan) for Halong Bay in the period between April 7 and October 26, 2014.
According to the cruise line, the cruise tourism demand in Asia is growing and the main port’s shift from Singapore to Hong Kong is part of the strategy of developing destinations like Hong Kong, China, South Korea and Japan.
According to some travel firms catering to cruise tourists, cruise tourism grows well in the travel season from October, 2013 to April, 2014.
Phan Xuan Anh, chairman of Viet Excursions, said that the number of cruise tourists from last month to early next year would be equivalent to last year’s same period. The firm regularly welcomes ships from the U.S., Australia and the UK.
