Star Cruises Inducted into TTG Travel Awards “Travel Hall of Fame” for the sixth consecutive year

Bangkok / Hong Kong, 4 October, 2013 - Star Cruises, the leading cruise line in Asia-Pacific, has been honored as a TTG Travel Awards “Travel Hall of Fame” Inductee for the sixth year yesterday in Bangkok. The prestigious accolade, one of the travel industry’s pinnacle recognition's, was conferred to Star Cruises to commemorate the company’s winning of “Best Cruise Operator in the Asia-Pacific” in the TTG Travel Awards for ten consecutive years.

Looking ahead, Star Cruises will continue to create memorable holiday experience for passengers. Upon the successful completion of Super Star Gemini’s six-month home-port deployment in Shanghai, the ship will embark on a seasonal deployment in Sanya, China starting 1 November, 2013. SuperStar Aquarius will also commence her seasonal home-port deployment in Kota Kinabalu, the city capital of Sabah, Malaysia, for the first time from 6 November, 2013 to 29 March, 2014. Both ships will make their first respective calls to Manila and Boracay of the Philippines in October and November.

Star Cruises is constantly improving its itineraries to cater to different markets and to provide more leisure and entertainment choices for customers. Other than Super Star Gemini and Super Star Aquarius, it also operates SuperStar Virgo, SuperStar Libra and Star Pisces, based in Singapore, Penang and Hong Kong respectively, with dedication and unique Asian hospitality. Expect to welcome Hello Kitty @ Sea onboard SuperStar Virgo and SuperStar Libra from 17 November to 29 December this year. The themed cruises will be perfect for families to spend quality time bonding and kids to get up close with their favourite characters.

The 24th Annual TTG Travel Awards 2013 recognised 82 of the Asia-Pacific travel trade’s best organisations and individuals, and garnered a total of 120,000 valid votes. The Ceremony & Gala Dinner was held in Centara Grand and Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld.

Star to launch Hello Kitty cruises

38 themed cruises to operate in Malaysia and Thailand

Star Cruises will launch the first ever ‘Hello Kitty At Sea’ cruise next month.

Following a partnership with the cartoon kitten’s creator, Sanrio, Star Cruises will offer a series of 38 Hello Kitty-themed cruises aboard its SuperStar Virgo and SuperStar Libra liners from 17 November to 29 December 2013.

Passengers will have the chance to interact with Hello Kitty and other Sanrio characters, such as Dear Daniel, My Melody and Bad Batz Maru. Special attractions will include a Hello Kitty karaoke musical show, special breakfasts and tea parties with characters, story-telling sessions and Hello Kitty arts and craft workshops.

“We are very excited to present the ‘Hello Kitty At Sea’ cruises on SuperStar Virgo and SuperStar Libra to commemorate our 20 years of milestone success in Asia cruising,” said Michael Goh, Star Cruises’ senior vice president of sales. “This will definitely be an fun-filled family vacation for everyone.”

The Hello Kitty cruises will be offered on a series of routings in Malaysia and Thailand, including the two-night Kuala Lumpur and Melaka cruises and three-night Phuket, Penang and Langkawi cruises.

The awards were voted by travel professionals worldwide. At the World Travel Awards Asia & Australasia Gala Ceremony 2013 held at Anantara Dubai The Palm Resort & Spa in Dubai yesterday, Star Cruises was hailed as “Asia’s Leading Cruise Line” among many top players of the industry in attendance.

The win comes in the year of Star Cruises’ 20^th anniversary, which marks the maiden voyage of Star Aquarius from Singapore in December 1993. As the pioneer of cruising in Asia, Star Cruises has not rested on its laurels. Understanding customers’ changing taste and travel and leisure trend has been its key to success.

Looking ahead, SuperStar Aquarius will begin homeporting in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah for the first time in early November after completing her seasonal deployment in Keelung. Her new itineraries will take passengers to Muara in Brunei and Bintulu in Sarawak.

Starting in November, SuperStar Gemini will be relocated to Sanya after her successful first deployment in Shanghai. Star Cruises is offering four special Xiamen-based itineraries during SuperStar Gemini’s relocation. She will sail cross-strait to Taiwanese destinations and Hong Kong. Both SuperStar Gemini and SuperStar Aquarius will soon call into Manila and Boracay in the Philippines for the first time, in October and November respectively.

World Travel Awards’ Asia & Australasia Ceremony 2013 in Dubai yesterday was the sixth leg of the awards’ Grand Tour. The annual event is a global search for the world’s leading travel brands.
