Star Cruises deploys newly refurbished SuperStar Virgo on Hong Kong-Taiwan route


The newly refurbished SuperStar Virgo, renovated at a cost of USD 19.7 million, was showcased to the Indian travel trade on the new Hong Kong-Taiwan route last month. Star Cruises hosted members from the Indian travel trade, including Preferred Sales Agents (PSAs), and the media for a FAM trip on the ship, which now offers additional world-class facilities. From now on, Star Cruises will be operating SuperStar Virgo, which used to be homeported at Singapore, from Hong Kong to Kaohsiung in Taiwan.

At 75,338 grt, SuperStar Virgo is the largest cruise ship in Star Cruises’ Asian fleet. The 13-storey ship offers 935 cabins with 1,870 lower berths. The full range of facilities include 13 restaurants and bars offering various cuisines and beverages, performing arts theatre, karaoke, cigar lounge, swimming pool, water fun pool and jacuzzi, beauty salon, rock-climbing facilities, gym and meeting rooms. The entertainment programme onboard SuperStar Virgo caters to guests of all ages. SuperStar Virgo is 268-mtr long, 32-mtr wide and cruises at an average speed of 24 kn.

Star Cruises offers two itineraries onboard SuperStar Virgo. From Monday to Wednesday, the ship sails from Hong Kong to Sanya in China and Halong Bay in Vietnam, while from Wednesday to Saturday it sails between Hong Kong and Kaohsiung in Taiwan.
