The lovely duo from Ukraine portrays an astounding passionate aerial and straps act performed exquisitely for a romantic mood. Having been trained in years of work; Ivan and Liudmyla equally display a graceful and powerful aesthetics thus making them the highlight of any circus and vaudeville show all over Europe.

EVGENII (CONTORTIONIST)

A very flexible acrobat from Russia amazes the audience as he bends and folds his body and accomplishes perfect acrobatic contortion. Evgenii exemplifies an extremely controlled discipline and focus as he performs one of the most extreme circus acts.

WIRE BALANCING ACT

Immersed in acrobatics, dance and ballet training for 6 years, acrobat Geoffrey from France perfected the art of balance as he showcase a breathtaking Wire Balancing act wherein he walks along a tensioned wire between two points without any harness. Geoffrey has showcased his acrobatic expertise in different Circus Festivals all over Spain and France and later on became one of the potential acrobats in Cirque Du Soleil.

RING ACT

From his exceptional Russian Bar Act, Vadim exhibits another precise balance as he effortlessly performs this incredible Ring Act wherein he carries a huge ring and sways altogether in a circular motion portraying the movement of a time clock.

This talented circus artist from Russia never fails to bring out his outstanding acrobatic feats with strict balance and agility.

SuperStar Gemini returns to Sanya this November with amazing seasonal homeport itineraries

HONG KONG – SuperStar Gemini will return to Sanya, Hainan on November 1 to embark on its seasonal homeport deployment. This third seasonal Sanya-based deployment of Star Cruises, the leading cruise line in Asia-Pacific, will take passengers to popular Vietnamese destinations Danang and Halong Bay. Star Cruises will also roll out three special SuperStar Gemini cruises prior to the Sanya deployment. The Hong Kong/Haikou cruise departing on 26 October, the Haikou/Halong Bay cruise departing on 27 October and the Haikou/Hong Kong/Sanya cruise departing on 29 October will appeal to passengers of all interests.

Manila welcomed SuperStar Gemini on her first call

Manila / Hong Kong, 18 October, 2013 – SuperStar Gemini called at Manila, the Philippines for the first time today. The 50,764-tonne luxury liner was warmly welcomed by government officials at the Eva Macapagal Passenger Terminal. The call was a key stop during the ship’s first Xiamen-based deployment, which began on 11 October, 2013.

In the welcome ceremony featuring traditional dance and 60-piece band performances, passengers received souvenirs from the Department of Tourism of the Philippines (DOT).

The 7D6N charter cruise from Xiamen marked SuperStar Gemini’s first visit to the Philippines. She made her successful first call to Boracay yesterday (17 October) before coming to Manila today.

Mr. William Ng, Chief Operating Officer of Star Cruises, said, “This special charter cruise has brought more than 1,200 passengers from Xiamen to Manila to experience the many attractions this energetic city has to offer. Many of them will also visit Resorts World Manila, our world-class, one stop, non-stop entertainment and leisure hub, during the shore excursion.”

Mr. Ng also thanked the Philippine Government, the DOT and related authorities for their support for making this call a great success. He is confident that together with these government bodies and agencies, Star Cruises will spur cruise tourism development in the Philippines.

Sta Ana, Asian Terminal Inc (ATI) Executive Vice President  Mr. Andrew Hoad and other representatives from the government, ministries and authorities.

Also in attendance were Mr. Stephen James Reilly, Chief Operating Officer of Resorts World Manila, Mr. Cheng Foong Sim, Senior Vice President, Hotel Operations of Star Cruises and Captain Jukka Silvennoinen of SuperStar Gemini and Mr. Derek Shui, Hotel Manager of SuperStar Gemini.

After the memento exchange ceremony, the special guests went onboard for a sumptuous lunch featuring Star Cruises’ renowned international and Asian cuisines at Bella Vista. They had a ship tour before disembarking the 13-deck vessel.

Fifty-two underprivileged children from 15 cities in Metro Manila had a photo session with the ship’s vivacious mascot.

As part of the company’s on-going Corporate Social Responsibility programme, Star Cruises, together with Resorts World Manila, brought 52 underprivileged children from 15 cities in Metro Manila (Pateros, Quezon City, Parañaque, Pasay, Caloocan, Makati, Malabon, Mandaluyong, Manila, Marikina, Navotas, Pasig, San Juan, Taguig and Valenzuela) for a fun outing onboard the ship as jointly organized by the spouses of the different City Mayors.

Meanwhile, Undersecretary and General Manager of Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, Ms Corazon T. Jimenez along with the Mayors of Pasig and Taguig City, Mayor Maria Belen Andaya-Eusebio and Mayor Ma. Laarni L. Cayetano respectively toured around the vessel with the children and watched Star Cruises’ in-house production show Leslie McKinney’s World of Magic. They were treated to afternoon tea and had a photo session with the ship’s vivacious mascot. After an afternoon full of laughter and excitement, the children went home with bagfuls of exclusive Star Cruises souvenirs and unforgettable memories.

HAND BALANCING ACT

Russian circus actor Sergey performs an exceptional hand balancing act combined with traditional acrobatic stunts supported entirely by his hands/arms. This gravity defying act showcases a great deal of strength and incredible concentration which leaves the audience at awe.

BICYCLE ACT

BMX champion Csaba Bozso from Hungary has been performing all over Europe with his impressive bicycle and free standing ladder act. With immense training, this very talented cyclist has made a name for himself in creating a classic circus style in his BMX performance wherein he completed two seasons of shows in Switzerland, Germany and France. He recently added his own unique version by incorporating a UV light to his amazing BMX showdown for more twists in his performance.

ACROBATIC DUO

Acrobatic duo Irena and Karel from Czech performs an incredible antipode act also known as foot juggling act. Having been trained in acrobatics, this duo showcases impressive speed and balance as they amaze the audience with their juggling performances.

HAND TO HAND DUO

Featuring an amazing hand to hand balancing act, performed by the multi-talented and award winning acrobats from Belarus – Arthur and Vladislav. Both have been trained to create a precise choreography with the intensity and dynamics of hand balancing and acrobatics. SuperStar Gemini celebrates first call to Boracay

Hong Kong/ Boracay, 17 October, 2013 – SuperStar Gemini called at Boracay, the Philippines for the first time today. It was a key part of the ship’s first Xiamen-based deployment kick-started on 11 October, 2013.

Amidst a traditional Boracay Ati-atihan performance, the vessel and passengers were welcomed by the Provincial Government of Aklan, local communities and the media.

SuperStar Gemini Captain Jukka Silvennoinen described it as a significant moment. This 7D6N charter cruise, bringing more than 1, 200 cruise passengers from Xiamen to Boracay, also marks SuperStar Gemini’s first visit to the Philippines. The ship will call at Manila tomorrow (18 October, 2013).

SuperStar Gemini makes its inaugural voyage to Taiwan from Xiamen

On 11th October, the SuperStar Gemini made its inaugural voyage to Taiwan. Sailing from the picturesque Xiamen, passengers were able to marvel at the gorgeous views along the way, and indulge themselves at the array of delicious restaurants, fantastic shops and luxurious spas, fitness centres and other leisure options on-board. 

The inaugural SuperStar Gemini cruise departing Xiamen is a five-night voyage, a 6D5N cruise to Penghu, Kaohsiung and Hong Kong. And another 7D6N cruise sailing from Xiamen on October 14 will make port calls in Boracay and Manila. According to a poll, the itinerary is a favourite among Xiamen travelers. It will be the SuperStar Gemini’s first visit to the Philippines. 

Another five-night cruise, departing on 20th October, will call at Penghu, Keelung, Taichung and Kaohsiung.

Star Cruises Orders New Ship from Meyer Werft

As reported by Cruise Industry News last week, Star Cruises and Genting Hong Kong have entered into an agreement with Meyer Werft shipyard for the construction of one new cruise ship for Star.

Genting announced the news via a stock exchange filing on Monday, October 7. The contract is valued at 707 million euro.

The filing stated: "It is our present intention that the Vessel will be designed to cater for the unique demands of Asian clientele, in particular, Mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. The Board believes that the Vessel, upon delivery and operation, will further strengthen the Group’s cruise brand, enable the Group to compete more effectively in the cruise industry, and enable the Group to take advantage of growing demand for cruise business in the Asia Pacific market and the port infrastructure developments in Hong Kong and Asia which enable large cruise ships to dock, as well as improving the operating efficiency and revenue potential of the Group."

The vessel will have capacity for 3,364 passengers at double occupancy.
