Celebrate The Festival of Songkran on Star Cruises!

The Songkran festival (or literally "astrological passage") is celebrated in Thailand as the traditional New Year's Day from 13 to 15 April.  The traditional Thai New Year has been a national holiday since then.

The term Songkran comes from Sanskrit "Sankranta" and means "a move or change" - in this case the move of the sun into the Aries zodiac - Mesha Sankranti.

The most obvious celebration of Songkran is the throwing of water. Thais roam the streets with containers of water or water guns (sometimes mixed with mentholated talc) and drench each other and passersby. There will be events lined up to celebrate this aspect of the festival (detail below).

Most people use "สุขสันต์วันสงกรานต์" (suk-san wan songkran) — meaning "Happy Songkran Day" as a greeting, so don’t forget to use this when interacting with other passengers or Crew J

We have some exciting events lined up on our various Cruises. On the 14th April on Aquarius we have ‘Fun Water escapade’ where Cruise Staff will organize a special wet and wild pool games for the guests including the “must have” water splashing activity.

Star Cruises India is now on Pinterest!

But what is Pinterest, you ask? Pinterest is a "Virtual Pinboard" that "lets you organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web."
What Pinterest does is it lets us "Pin" pictures to "Boards", which are classified by activities on-board and offshore. We can upload pictures or share images to our Boards, which appear in a beautiful canvas view on the homepage of those that follow us or any particular Board.

In the case of Star Cruises India, we have 8 Boards so far that reflect various aspects of the Star Cruises experience and our goal is to let you, the user, soak in the experience visually. We will be adding more boards very soon, attempting to give our Followers a 360 degree experience of being On-board a Star Cruise, without actually being physically present there.

Go ahead, browse our Boards at http://pinterest.com/starcruiseindia/ and follow us for a visual delight :-)
